Thurlestone Golf Club

Thurlestone Golf

Thurlestone Golf Club can be found within an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, and is a fantastic location to play both golf and tennis.

The course is one of the most exhilarating with majestic rocky seascapes above the coves where smugglers used to operate. It is also ideal holiday golf – not too severe, with quite generous fairways but the wind, of course, can blow with a vengeance. The course at Thurlestone Golf Club was originally designed by Charles Gibson, the Club Professional at Westward Ho!, using land leased from Brunskill represented today by holes 1-7 and the practice ground. Over time, the club acquired more land, which was revamped by Donald Steel in 1994, and it still retains its mixture of cliff-top terrain overlooking the legendary Thurlestone Rock to the East and the Avon Estuary and Burgh Island to the West. It truly is a course you will never forget!
